Tilaka

The tilaka (or tilak) is a mark worn on the forehead and other parts of the body for spiritual reasons.

To denote marriage and auspiciousness, married women today commonly wear on the forehead a decorative dot, or bindī. In Southern India, this is called pottu (or bottu). Among South Indian married woman, the red pottu is worn at the centre between both the eyebrows
